What services do you provide?

401k provides general investment education regarding the plan sponsor's current plan to their employees.

Why do I, the employer/HR representative need this service?

As a plan sponsor, you may be concerned that your participants do not fully understand the retirement investment options your company plan offers. Also, as a plan sponsor, you cannot select an investment option should an employee request you to choose what is best for them.

Why is it important that a plan sponsor provide education to their participants/non participants?

As the plan sponsor, your fiduciary responsibility you should be to provide information enabling participants to make educated decisions as stated in the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) Section 404(c).

What is ERISA 404(c)?

Section 404(c) of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) provides a set of voluntary guidelines that a plan sponsor can follow. If followed, these guidelines effectively transfer the potential liability associated with investment decision-making responsibilities from plan sponsors to employees who participate in a 401(k) plan or other participant-directed defined contribution plan.
